Buffalo Rumble Through Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (January 2011) – Back by popular demand after a two-year hiatus, the thundering hooves of buffalo again are rumbling through Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The attraction’s 2011 season began Jan. 14.
“Families really enjoyed getting such an up-close look at these beautiful buffalo,” Dolly Parton said. “For lots of people, my Dixie Stampede is as close as they’ve ever gotten to an actual herd. After two years, folks wanted to see them back in the show, so I’m glad to welcome these beautiful animals back, all eight tons of ‘em!”
Ten buffalo have rejoined the popular show that features a friendly rivalry between the North and the South in a battle decided by various competitions of equestrian skill. The buffalo are showcased in a special show segment entitled “Return of the Buffalo,” which reminds audiences of a time when herds of the majestic animals roamed the open plains of the unsettled Western frontier.
Shows are performed daily; times vary. Reservations are recommended and available by calling 1-800-356-1676 or visiting Dixie Stampede.com.
Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede is a unique dinner and show experience set in a 35,000-square-foot arena featuring 32 magnificent horses, dozens of cast members, pig races, illusions, music and more. With seating to accommodate 1,000 guests, the show is highlighted by a four-course meal. Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner and show operates in Pigeon Forge and Branson, Mo. Pirates Voyage, a new production, opens later this year in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
