Award-Winning Broadway Show Opens in Pigeon Forge
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (February 2010) -- The Miracle Theater is bringing an energetic and vibrant new production of the hit Broadway and London musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” to Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
If you are looking for a family-friendly Broadway style show in the Smoky Mountains, The Miracle Theater is the place to go. “Joseph” opens this month, and it rivals anything you might see on Broadway. Join the celebration as The Miracle Theater presents the most memorable production of Joseph that you'll ever see.
With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Miracle Theater will produce a new staging of this well-known musical that tells about dreams, family and reconciliation.
“Joseph” is the colorful retelling of the biblical story of Joseph. The story revolves around Joseph and his dreams, his ability to interpret his own dreams and the dreams of others, and family rivalry. The coat of many colors sings out to young and old alike with a score of wall-to-wall musical hits including “Close Every Door” and “Any Dream Will Do.”
The new production of “Joseph” will be the featured evening show at The Miracle Theater, while the current “Miracle” show will continue at the theater in the 3 p.m. time slot.
“We are thrilled to be bringing 'Joseph' to The Miracle Theater,“ said theater general manager Robert Kalina. “’Joseph’ will be completely different from our other show at The Miracle Theater. ‘Joseph’ is whimsical, fun, upbeat and comical. It’s a spectacular show.”
“The show tells the story of how Joseph fled temptation and paid a steep price for his refusal to compromise. But, in the end, God richly rewarded Joseph for his sterling character and his refusal to give into sin. Joseph remained steadfast in his faith when he was tested and he extended forgiveness to those who repented. The rest of the story tells us how Joseph eventually became the second most powerful and influential man in the kingdom of Egypt and how restoration was victory even though he was betrayed,” he said.
The Miracle Theater's production of “Joseph” hits the mark with its special effects, creative choreography, high-energy dancing, spectacular sets and colorful costumes including the dazzling coat of many colors.
Joseph is a crowd pleaser and is entertaining and worthwhile viewing for audiences of all ages, both for fans of the show and for audience members just looking around to be entertained.
“For those who have never been to the Miracle Theater, we welcome you,” Kalina said. “For those who have been to our theater before, we welcome you back. As soon as our much loved shows are over, your family will say, ‘I want to see that again!'”
Plan to arrive early so you can actually ride the theater's camels at Noah's Ark Animal Park, located directly in front of the theater before the show. You can also experience a backstage tour of The Miracle Theater that includes pre-show areas and the Noah's Ark stable of animals.
